How do I get here?

Your stay at Still Waters Belize includes two full-time staff, including a private cook. We aim to make your stay as smooth as possible and will assist with booking your transfers, transportation, and activities on the island after confirming your reservation with us.

Where is Still Waters Belize?

Still Waters is located 4 miles north of San Pedro town on Ambergris Caye in Belize, Central America. San Pedro is the main (and only) town on Ambergris Caye, which is the largest of the Belize barrier islands (known as Cayes). The long and narrow island stretches (almost 25 miles long) along the Meso-American Reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world and the world's largest LIVING reef. This reef is what makes Ambergris Caye such a popular tourist destination, creating easy access to the best diving, snorkeling and fishing is the world!

Transportation:  How do I get there?

After arriving at Belize International Airport, there are three options to get to Ambergris Caye.

  1. Take a “puddle jumper” flight on either Tropic Air or Maya Island Air to San Pedro.

  2. Take a private boat transfer from Belize City directly to the house

  3. Take the local ferry service from Belize City to San Pedro town.

We are located 4 miles north of town, an approximate 15-20 minute golf cart ride, and recommend renting a golf cart to get around the island, as golf carts are the main mode of transportation.  We can assist you in booking your transpiration both to and around the island.

*Please Note: If you are traveling with a minor and without both legal parents or guardians, the airlines and immigration officials may ask for a notarized letter from the parent/guardian not accompanying the child that authorizes the child to travel to/from Belize.*

Currency & Language: Why is the Queen of England on my coin?

Belize, formerly known as British Honduras, gained independence from Great Britain in 1981, making it one of the newest countries in the Western Hemisphere.  Being a former British Colony, English is the official language (although Spanish and Creole are commonly spoken), and the Queen of England remains on the currency.

US Dollars are accepted throughout Belize. The official exchange rate is fixed at 1 USD = 2 BZD (Belize Dollars). Exchange is not necessary as vendors and stores accept US currency.

Cash is preferred, but please be sure your bills do not have rips or writing on them, as those may not be accepted. Most tour guides and small vendors accept cash only, and most restaurants and stores take credit cards.

Beach Front!

What sets Still Waters apart from other places to stay?  We are on the beach and have a beach entry into the Caribbean Sea!  Take less than 50 steps to walk from the house to the ocean!  We have a real beach on our property, unlike many other beachfront properties on Ambergris Caye, that have bulk heads or seawalls.  Still Waters Belize is one of the few homes on Ambergris Caye where your toes can be in both the sea and the sand!

The Meso-American Reef runs parallel to our beach. The waves break on the reef, approximately 1/2 mile from the shoreline, and the water is calm and protected at the shoreline and inside the reef.  Seagrass beds grow in the shallow waters near the beach and are feeding and nesting grounds for much of the abundant marine life in this amazing ecosystem.
